San Cai Jian with Jon Chang & Michelle Lin

Students from Metrowest Kung Fu (Maynard MA), Wu Dao Kung Fu & Tai Chi (Watertown MA), Boston Bökh and Shuaijiao, Great Bay Tai Chi (Salisbury MA), The Kung Fu & Tai Chi Academy of New England (Auburn MA), and Wu An Martial Arts (Newton MA) gathered to learn Three Powers Sword 三才剑 (Sān Cái Jiàn) from Jon Chang and Michelle Lin.

Originally from Xíngyìquán 形意拳 and adapted by Shàolín 少林, Sān Cái Jiàn 三才剑 is a unique sequence that can be trained solo or with a partner, as Three Powers Sword Matching Set 三才剑 对练 (Sān Cái Jiàn Duì Liàn). The matching set specifically trains a practitioner to gain an understanding of proper distance and applications.

The class took place at Metrowest Kung Fu over three weekends, spanning over nine hours of solo training, drills, and partner practice. The final class was February 18th 2024. Thank you to the students and instructors who attended:

  • Ryan Dougherty (Metrowest Kung Fu)

  • Shelby El-Otmani (Wu Dao Kung Fu & Tai Chi)

  • Gillaume Gallani (Wu Dao Kung Fu & Tai Chi)

  • Ed Gorman (Wu An Martial Arts)
